Breast Cancer Awareness Manicure

October is breast cancer awareness month. I didn’t want to let the month end without creating a manicure inspired by this theme. I’m no expert on this topic so I’m not going to pretend I am. Here’s a link if you’re interested in what it’s all about. http://www.nbcam.org/

Here’s what I used for this manicure.

I had so much fun giving each nail a different look! I really love this manicure! My favorite nail is the red middle finger, so bling! 🙂

Which one is your favorite?

Happy Halloween!

I co-hosted a Halloween party this weekend and this was my manicure for the occasion! Here’s what I used.

and

The stickers were great. It was easy to apply them and file/cut off the excess. The next day they peeled right off with no problems. They were a bit thick so you really had to press them down at the edges and make sure they wouldn’t curl back up. Apart from that I loved them.

Accent nail. As you have probably guessed I dressed as a cat for Halloween! Hope everyone had a great weekend, what nail art did you wear for Halloween?

Revlon Radiant Blue Mosaic (Glitter Nail Enamel)

No nail art today. Just a simple swatch of this beautiful nail polish. All I did was apply a base coat under it. I did that with this glittery nail polish because it’s a blue-tinted clear base and a strong base coat under it draws more attention to the actual glitter. (in my opinion!)

Here are the polishes I used.

This polish is great simply because it really pops. I’m not a huge fan of blue polish but even I was impressed with this one. I couldn’t figure out what made it different until I looked closely. This polish is loaded with  fine light blue glitter throughout it. It also has larger white, light blue and green hexagon shaped glitter pieces in it. It’s the green pieces that I think really make it pop. I only needed two coats of this polish and it doesn’t chip easily. Plus, even though it’s loaded with glitter it doesn’t feel grainy on my nails. Topcoat is still advised for a shiny look though.

What do you think of it?

Gradation Nails 101

I have always found gradation nails hard to do. It sounds easy. You basically paint your nails one color then sponge another color halfway over your nail making it look like it blends in. Simple. Except whenever I try it I end up using too much polish and my nails look pockmarked from all the sponging. Not good. So I gave up on gradation nails. Until I found this beauty.

Literally gradation nails for dummys. 🙂 Yay! Here’s what’s inside. On the top of each cap they literally numbered the bottles in the order you should use them!! It’s foolproof (unless you can’t count).

Apart from this kit all you need is . . .

Apply the first polish over the whole nail, let it dry. Apply the second polish over the last third of the nail with the sponge. I painted the polish directly on the sponge so I wouldn’t waste it. Apply the third polish on the very tip of the nail with the sponge.

Here’s the result. What do you think of my gradation nails for beginners???

Prettyful Pink Mani

I’m not really a girly girl (says the girl who has a nail art blog and loves Taylor Swift) but I love how pretty these nails are! I think my favorite manicures have all been the beautiful ones, not the funky ones. Hmm.

Anyways, this manicure is one I did a while ago. I pulled it from the archives. This week has been cray cray at work and at home so I didn’t have time to get experimental with my polishes. That changes tonight (I’m excited!!).

For this mani I used Face It, (shown) Etude House, (light pink) and OPI Topcoat and I got the nail art jewels in Etude house. Those  brands will probably mean nothing to you unless you live in Korea, sorry!! I used scotch tape to get those lines. I had to wait until the first layer of polish was completely dry to use the tape. Then I put the tape down and painted the light pink over it, pulled it off and voila! I stuck the jewels down with topcoat.

Hope you like the mani. If it’s your first time stopping by the blog PUHLEASE give me feedback !!! I’d love to know what you think of the pictures and the writing.  Please be gentle!! 🙂

Floral French Tip Nail Transfers

When I bought these I assumed they were stickers and that it would be easy to put them on and file them off. Done in ten mins. Simple. But no. That is not what happened.

I opened them and FACEPALM realised they were transfers not stickers. So I went and got some water and started to out them on. This was my first time using transfer tips. NIGHTMARE!!

When you pull them out of the water and put them on your nail they don’t really stick and THEN you have to file off the excess. So what was happening was I was filing and the tip would start moving at the same time! Super frustrating! I ended up putting on the tip and sticking it down with topcoat then filing off the excess.

I was really annoyed and swore I would never use them again. I cursed a lot (my fiance can testify). But then, when I calmed down, I saw how pretty they looked, AND after two days they hadn’t chipped at all. That is some kind of record for me. So, I think I was a bit harsh and  maybe I will use these again. . . maybe.

Halloween Manicure!

Halloween, I am READY for you!

I wasn’t sure what to do with my nails for this festive occasion. There are so many possibilities !! I looked on Google images and picked five of my favorite looks to make up my spooky manicure!! This look kind of took me out of my comfort zone as it was nail art heavy!  I found the pumpkin really challenging, it was difficult to keep a steady hand! I love how the thumb nail turned out and I love this manicure! I already got complimented on it by a total stranger, that always feels great!

Here are some close-ups.

My favorite is the fangs, what’s yours? 🙂

Flower French Manicure!

I was in a colorful mood what can I say! I really wanted a bright multicolored manicure. Here’s what I used.

This is my flower wheel. I bought in at an online Korean store. I assumed that they were fake but actually these are real pressed flowers!

Cute aren’t they? 🙂

Here’s a close up of each of my nails.

Here’s today’s look  without the flowers.

Striping Tape Tutorial

This tutorial kind of explains itself so it won’t be very wordy . 🙂

The base polishes are from yesterdays manicure post! Why waste a manicure when you can upgrade it?!! Here’s what I used.

It’s better to cut the tape and have it ready in strips at the edge of a table or somewhere convenient.

Peel the tape off while the polish is still wet. That’s key! Pull carefully and one strip at a time.I used Sally Hansen’s White On for this manicure.

I thought this manicure would be more difficult than it actually was. Once I had the tape cut and ready it was easy.

Love Story

Once upon there was a polish called Strawberry Margarita. She came from the land of OPI. While she knew she was fabulous sometimes she felt she was missing something. She needed a bounce in her pretty little step.

One day she found what was missing. She fell in love at first swatch.  He gave her a sparkle so  perfect it brought out the best in both of them. They lived happily ever after, perfectly complimenting each other.

So, my favourite polish at the moment. OPI’s Strawberry Margarita. I love it so much I bought a marked up bottle of it from a Korean store. It’s great on its own or, as in this case, as a base coat.

Sally Hansen diamond strength polish really surprised me. On its own it’s a bit flat but on top of the OPI it shimmers, sparkles, glitters. . .  you get where I’m going??!

The result is a BEAUTIFUL manicure that is really girly and pretty! (If I do say so myself)

Butterflies ‘n’ Bling

OK, where to start? This manicure is the result of me not being able to decide on a ‘look’ and instead trying to combine three different styles! Ever have one of those days where you just can’t decide what to do with your nails? Well, that was this manicure for me!

I started off with a golden glitter nail polish. It’s not a great brand to be honest. Face It is a Korean brand that I think tries to imitate the Body Shop. This polish NEVER seems to dry and chips easily. See bottom photo. I added butterflies to my thumb nail but quickly realized that wouldn’t work on all my nails so I changed to the OPI teal color.

Here’s what I used for this mani. I love love love the OPI ‘Fly’ it’s from the Nicki Minaj Spring 2012 collection. It’s PERFECT. Glides on the nail like a dream, great consistency and it’s so shiny even though it’s not a jelly polish. You could get away with one coat but I prefer two.

Here’s the original color!

What do you think of my mani?!!

Don’t Mess With Me Mani

These are my tough girl nails.

Here is what I used to create this manicure. As you’ve probably guessed by now I am a HUGE OPI fan!

I bought the nail art stickers in Japan. I was there recently and was really excited to buy some nail art supplies. Everything was really expensive but I still picked up some nice bits and pieces. (I’m sure these nail stickers can be bought ANYWHERE but since I live in Korea some times nail accessories can be hard to source)

Japanese Cherry Blossoms

I got the inspiration for this manicure from this picture. (and because my fiance loves how cherry blossoms look!)

I love the stark contrast between the red and the white background.

Here’s what I used.

Here’s my base coat. It gave me a lot problems because it was so goopy and gooey. Luckily I read an article this week about how to ‘save’ nail polishes. I put a few drops of nail polish remover in the bottle shook it up and then it was much easier to apply. The polish remover thinned it out nicely.

Without the blossoms the trees kind of  look like Japanese symbols!

Here it is with the blossoms! I didn’t wait long enough for the red polish to dry before I used a top coat. Some of the blossoms ran a little. I need to learn to be more patient!!! 🙂 I still think they look good though!

Starry Starry Night

More stamping!

This look was inspired by a top I own.

I wanted my nails to match it. I normally don’t do that but this time I did! Here’s what I used for this manicure.

The base coat is Etude House (Korean brand) the white is Konad stamping polish and I finished it with OPI topcoat.  Also, I used some nail art stones!

And here’s the manicure!

Nail Caviar

OK, I have to admit I didn’t have high hopes for this manicure. I saw the little teeny tiny pot of beads and shuddered!!! I really thought I was going to make a mess both of my nails and the living room!

BUT, thankfully I was wrong! I started as I always do with a coat of OPI nail envy. Then two coats of a deep purple OPI (I forget the exact shade name, I think of it as a Cadbury purple!  I will put it in later!) This shade has really subtle glitter in it. It’s very festive.

When my nails were dry I used OPI topcoat on them. While the accent nail was still wet I dipped it into the pot of caviar. I held the pot over a container which caught the beads that didn’t stick to my nails. After the first dip some parts of my nail still didn’t have beads on them so I just put a little more topcoat on those areas and poured the beads again.

I gently pressed the beads down and they stayed! Right now I think this is my favourite manicure! I LOVE the look of the nail caviar!!! Totally proved myself wrong!

The only slightly negative thing I have to say about these beads is that they lose their colour quickly. After a few hand washes some of them look more like silver than their original colour. But they still look great!
