Estee Lauder Lilac Leather – and then some lace! :)

DSC_0102

Ha, I think Greg is trying to tell me he’s gonna miss me! He came home with another  Estee Lauder polish yesterday! Perfect timing as I was ready to take off Narcissist. This time I used almost four coats because I wanted it to be really even across the nail. I love the color, but I didn’t want to do a straight up swatch so I decided to add french tips (Essie – blanc) and some lace nail stickers and oh yeah some jewels! I was really in the mood to decorate my nails last night! 🙂

Sheets of these lace stickers are on sale in most beauty stores here in Seoul, I love them! Tonight I’m heading out for dinner and a few drinks  so I’m glad I have girly nails for the occasion! 🙂

My cuticles and skin are really suffering in this weather! I’m moisturizing but it’s just not enough! Maybe the weather in Ireland will be kinder to me.

Santa Claus Nails :)

I love Christmas!! 🙂 My nails are making me smile today. My birthday is Christmas day so it’s always been a really special day for me.

I googled Christmas nail art and a version of this manicure caught my eye. I swapped silver glittery polish for silver nail tape. You can check out that manicure here.

Bridal Manicure

1A

Next year on August first I am getting married! (yay!) 🙂 So, I’ve been thinking about what kind of manicure I should have for my wedding day. I’m still not sure what I want so I’m just experimenting with lots of different looks and styles. I’m pretty sure I will eventually decide on something really simple and elegant. When I googled bridal manicures I really didn’t like what I saw. I definitely don’t want a Kardashian inspired look!

This look is really simple. I used a Konad stamping plate m56. I wanted a nice delicate french manicure look. I like the lace effect, it’s pretty.

So, there will be many more bridal manicures over the next few months as I play around with different looks.  I’d appreciate any advice from nail art bloggers! What manicure did you rock on your wedding day? 1B 1C

Fake Nails

Last week for Halloween I dressed up as a cat. I got to wear my costume twice, once for a party and once at work. For the party I painted my nails and used nail stickers for a french manicure effect, the accent nail was a white cat. Here’s the link to that manicure.

The second time I got to wear my costume it was for work. I am an elementary school teacher in Seoul. Last Friday I decided to use fake nails to go with my costume. I thought they would be less time-consuming than painting my nails. I haven’t worn fake nails since I was a teenager. I quickly remembered why! Initially I was glad that I didn’t need to use glue, the nails came with double-sided little inserts instead. However, I knew as soon as I put them on that they wouldn’t work, not for me. They were too long and really thin, it felt like I was wearing fragile plastic talons. Totally uncomfortable.

Before I took them off (they lasted about 20 mins) I took a few pictures.

Got any fake nail experiences you’d like to share? Or know of any really great brands?

Breast Cancer Awareness Manicure

October is breast cancer awareness month. I didn’t want to let the month end without creating a manicure inspired by this theme. I’m no expert on this topic so I’m not going to pretend I am. Here’s a link if you’re interested in what it’s all about. http://www.nbcam.org/

Here’s what I used for this manicure.

I had so much fun giving each nail a different look! I really love this manicure! My favorite nail is the red middle finger, so bling! 🙂

Which one is your favorite?

Happy Halloween!

I co-hosted a Halloween party this weekend and this was my manicure for the occasion! Here’s what I used.

and

The stickers were great. It was easy to apply them and file/cut off the excess. The next day they peeled right off with no problems. They were a bit thick so you really had to press them down at the edges and make sure they wouldn’t curl back up. Apart from that I loved them.

Accent nail. As you have probably guessed I dressed as a cat for Halloween! Hope everyone had a great weekend, what nail art did you wear for Halloween?

Floral French Tip Nail Transfers

When I bought these I assumed they were stickers and that it would be easy to put them on and file them off. Done in ten mins. Simple. But no. That is not what happened.

I opened them and FACEPALM realised they were transfers not stickers. So I went and got some water and started to out them on. This was my first time using transfer tips. NIGHTMARE!!

When you pull them out of the water and put them on your nail they don’t really stick and THEN you have to file off the excess. So what was happening was I was filing and the tip would start moving at the same time! Super frustrating! I ended up putting on the tip and sticking it down with topcoat then filing off the excess.

I was really annoyed and swore I would never use them again. I cursed a lot (my fiance can testify). But then, when I calmed down, I saw how pretty they looked, AND after two days they hadn’t chipped at all. That is some kind of record for me. So, I think I was a bit harsh and  maybe I will use these again. . . maybe.

Flower French Manicure!

I was in a colorful mood what can I say! I really wanted a bright multicolored manicure. Here’s what I used.

This is my flower wheel. I bought in at an online Korean store. I assumed that they were fake but actually these are real pressed flowers!

Cute aren’t they? 🙂

Here’s a close up of each of my nails.

Here’s today’s look  without the flowers.

Butterflies ‘n’ Bling

OK, where to start? This manicure is the result of me not being able to decide on a ‘look’ and instead trying to combine three different styles! Ever have one of those days where you just can’t decide what to do with your nails? Well, that was this manicure for me!

I started off with a golden glitter nail polish. It’s not a great brand to be honest. Face It is a Korean brand that I think tries to imitate the Body Shop. This polish NEVER seems to dry and chips easily. See bottom photo. I added butterflies to my thumb nail but quickly realized that wouldn’t work on all my nails so I changed to the OPI teal color.

Here’s what I used for this mani. I love love love the OPI ‘Fly’ it’s from the Nicki Minaj Spring 2012 collection. It’s PERFECT. Glides on the nail like a dream, great consistency and it’s so shiny even though it’s not a jelly polish. You could get away with one coat but I prefer two.

Here’s the original color!

What do you think of my mani?!!

Don’t Mess With Me Mani

These are my tough girl nails.

Here is what I used to create this manicure. As you’ve probably guessed by now I am a HUGE OPI fan!

I bought the nail art stickers in Japan. I was there recently and was really excited to buy some nail art supplies. Everything was really expensive but I still picked up some nice bits and pieces. (I’m sure these nail stickers can be bought ANYWHERE but since I live in Korea some times nail accessories can be hard to source)
