Cover Girl Outlast Stay Brilliant Glosstinis

Today I got a care package from Greg! It was so great, it made my day. 🙂

One of the things in the package was this nail polish.

I had to try this polish on right away! I used three coats to get rid of bald patches. I love it, it’s so cute! I wore a teal green sweater today and my nails went really well with it.

This is the range of Cover Girl Glosstinis.

Yay for great partners!!!

Blue Gradient

Here’s another gradient look. It’s supposed to be ‘beachy’. I’m not sure if that came across or not. Today has been stressful and kind of shit, so this post will be short.

I used Essie’s Blanc, Esclipse nail polish no name, and Sephora by OPI  Opening Night.

These last two pictures were taken outside. I wanted to see if the light would be better.

Hope you like the gradients, if you have  any suggestions on how to improve them, or cool color combos plz let me know!

Essie and Estee – Summer Gradient, Matt style

The weather in Ireland is usually really mild and it rains a lot. We don’t get scorching hot summers, and our winters aren’t ridiculously cold either. But for the past week the sun has been splitting the rocks here!! (26 degrees Celsius one day!!) Everyone I know went to the beach and had lots of fun. I had to work, but that’s ok. I get burned too easily anyway and don’t want tan lines on my wedding day!

All this hot weather made me crave ice-pops from my childhood. Do you know Tangle Twisters, Brunch, Feasts, Loop the Loops? Well, I’ve had all of them in the past week, (as my trainer would say, ‘disaster’). And their bright colors made me want to paint my nails.

I chose gradient because it’s still a challenge for me. So, I’m trying to perfect it. Expect more!

I used Essie, Blanc and Estee Lauder, Lilac Leather. I also used Modi’s Matt topcoat to give it that frozen look.

I love my Toms! Greg bought them for me last year when he went home to the states. So comfy and cute!

The Girl with the Butterfly Print Nails

Here’s a look inspired by a beautiful dark blue dress I saw the other day. This Sephora by OPI polish (Opening Night) is a perfect match with it, and I think the butterflies add a little magic to the look. I used Konad stamping plate m21, and Konad silver stamping polish.

The butterflies are really not that visable, it’s only when the light hits them, or if someone is really looking closely that they appear.

I haven’t stamped in months, so some of the butterflies are a little askew. But this was fun, so I may have to go back to my stamps again soon. 🙂

Wedding Outfit

Recently I was invited to a wedding. I was especially touched by the invite as I hadn’t had much contact with the bride in the past few years, due, mostly, to living in Korea. So, it was great to go and see old friends and neighbors. I didn’t have a date for the church part so my mam came with me.

She took this pic of me in the church car park before the wedding.

Dress and cardigan are from Dress Barn. Shoes from Greene’s. Bag from Accessorize. The best thing about this outfit is how comfortable it is. 🙂 It’s rare to get me in heels but I kinda enjoyed them!

Fan Nails

Feels like it’s been forever since I’ve posted on my blog about nails! Things like working 12 hour shifts, planning a wedding, hanging out with people I haven’t seen in a while have all taken up my time, oh and working out too!! I got a trainer, his favorite word to describe me is ‘disaster’! It’s a complicated relationship. Anyway, I can’t promise a whole load of future posts, but I will try to make more of a nail art effort in the future!! I am, as always, enjoying lots of YOUR blogs and posts.

Here are some ‘fan’ nails I did a little while ago. This look is GREAT when you just don’t have time for delicate and intricate detail. A few quick swipes and a little clean-up and you’re good to go.

I used OPI’s Red Lights Ahead. . . Where? and Essie’s Blanc.

My second Glossy Box

In my second Glossy Box I got: A Collegen and Aloe Vera Facemask, Sun Sense Daily Face SPF 50, Yves Rocher Nutritive Vegetal, Nip + Fab Mango Smoothie and Richard War Couture Hair. The mask is useful, I like face masks so it will be used. The daily face stuff and the body cream I kindly donated to my mom, who has a steadily growing collection of samples now! I haven’t used the hair style ‘reviver’ . I’m not sure if I will because I hardly ever use hair spray and when I do I’ve found Elnett by L’oreal to be excellent. It’s not sticky and it doesn’t smell bad. I don’t love everything that I got in this box but I do like that the samples are a little larger this time.

I can honestly say the best thing about this Glossy Box was the box itself!! I’m gonna use it to put my mom’s gifts in as it’s her b-day in June!

Speed Dial & Bling!

For this look I used Ciate’s Speed Dial and some nail stickers I picked up before I left Korea.

I like the look, but the stickers tend to peel off at the edges after a while. I would only use these for nights out anyway, they wouldn’t last a whole day.

For the top coat I used my new (and first) bottle of Seche Vite. I love it so much, BEST TOP COAT EVER. I always wondered what people were raving about and now I know! I actually found it at Bed Bath and Beyond in DC. Score!

Glossy Box (my first)

Ok, I’m really going to try and be fair with this review. I decided to subscribe to Glossy Box. For those of you who don’t know what it is, you basically pay them to send you a box a month with 5 samples in it. Sometimes they are mini samples, and sometimes they are full ones. There is a list of all the possible brands it could be on their website. The point is to try new products, and also to gift yourself (that was my point). You take a brief questionnaire, and tell them things like your skin tone, hair colour etc.

WARNING: If you sign up for this it will keep sending you boxes every month and charge you for them until you actually cancel with them. So, be warned!

I was initially not going to even write a review on my first box. My second box arrived this week and I was just going to write about that. Trouble is, writing about box 2 and not 1 would just annoy me! I’m not OCD or anything, but. . .

Ok! Here’s the box!

and inside

L’Occitane Hand Cream, Jelly Pong Pong Lipstick,  Renu Face Mask, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, and Pearly’s Tooth Powder (?) .

L’Occitane is a great hand cream and a lovely brand. I already have lots of hand cream so I passed this off to my mam.

The Jelly Pong Pong was nice because it was full sized. Everything else looked so small. However, I didn’t like the color ,so I gave it to my mam.

Renu mask for mature skin, EXCUSE ME? I’m not that old!! Gave that to my mam, got a dirty look, but she still took it!!  (poor mam)

I used to always carry Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream and I swear by it. For EVERYTHING!!! So I was happy to see this little sample.

Pearly’s teeth whitener, um hello? What’s with the ‘mature skin’ and ‘teeth powder’? Gave to you know who.

The box comes with this information leaflet about each of the product and shows what they cost (full size).

So, even reading this I am thinking the main problem with Glossy Box is that either their questionnaire isn’t detailed enough, or they don’t use that information very well. I still like the idea of a ‘gift’ coming every month. But there are so many other companies who do this, hmmm I have signed up for three at the end I’ll decide if it’s worth continuing.

Short and Sweet’s 30 Day Challenge!

So, this month has been a real roller coaster. I’ve spend two amazing weeks in DC with my fiance whom I really miss now!! AND I’ve just spent the weekend in England visiting my oldest friend! I managed to work a little as well so I’ve had absolutely no time to do my nails!!

I have loved watching everyone entries into Short and Sweet in Texas‘s 30 day challenge though. It’s great to see what everyone is coming up with and it’s given me lots of good ideas for future manicures. 🙂

Keep ’em coming ladies!!!

Navy and Silver Studded Nails

I’ve finally broken out my square silver studs, I bought them on G-market when I lived in Korea and kind of forgot about them. The navy nail polish brand is called Elle Girl 36. I got it in an Olive Young store in Seoul. I’m not sure if those stores are common elsewhere. It was really cheap but I like the colour and the quality of the polish.

It took about three coats to make the colour even. The polish spread really well and application was smooth. It also dried quite quickly.

I thought that these studs might annoy me.  but actually they are really really flat. Once they’re on it’s easy to forget they’re there.

My Trip to DC!!

Hey! I’m back! I feel terrible for not updating my blog when I was in DC but I wanted to squeeze as much out of my time there with Greg as possible. Painting my nails didn’t seem like a good use of my time! (extraordinary circumstances!!)

I had such a blast there. I can’t wait to move over after the wedding. I love our apt building and the scenic views from our windows. Love that I’m within walking distance of the metro.

We saw this beauty my first evening there, right behind our building! I couldn’t believe it!

My little dog Pickle was so happy to see me she peed herself (that’s love)

We explored DC while I was there and also revisited some tourist sites. We took a Segway tour of DC and that was so much fun! For $70 dollars each we took a 2hour tour and saw Lincoln Memorial, the Mall, the White House, Congress, Jefferson Memorial, Treasury Building, Ford Theatre, and so much more. We covered a lot of ground, the weather was perfect and we learned a lot about DC! I really recommend this tour for everybody.

Segways are fun!!!

We met up with Greg’s friends for drinks/dinners.

We went to the naval academy in Annapolis and a boat club to meet some of Greg’s relatives.

We caught a baseball game. The Nationals were playing the Atlanta Braves. It was my first baseball game in the US!

We also went to Ben’s Chili Bowl and got chili dawgs and chili fries! Nom!

The excitement was too much! I slept on the metro home and Greg posted this on facebook!!

I’m home now in Ireland and you will be seeing more posts this week!!!

This is my one and only Julep polish. Thanks to Julie from Short and Sweet in Texas for sending it to me in a swap. It’s called Minnie, and my mom’s worn it a lot more than I have! I greatly dislike how difficult it is to apply. It’s even harder to apply it on someone else’s nails. BUT, I do LOVE the colour. I mean, look at it, it’s amazing!

My nails remind me of a cute sweater!

These little beads are so much fun, I love the effect. I did of course manage to spill some all over my desk so I’m sure I’ll be finding them in the days to come!

A couple of times I accidentally used a silver bead instead of a gold one, can you spot where?

Wedding Hair First Salon Visit

Today was my first salon appointment. I went in last week and spoke to the head colourist and explained what I wanted for my wedding. She was great! Today I got low and high lights, a hair cut and hair styling. I really love how it turned out.

I was originally going to pull pieces back from my face but I think that would take away from the effect. I might put a decorative pin on the left side above my ear, I’m not sure yet. I have two or three more visits between now and the wedding so I can play around with it some more. I’m really happy with the colour though!

After my hair appointment I wandered around the farmer’s market in my city, bought delicious chocolate for me, Greg, and my chocolate addicted brother. Then, had a great pub lunch with my mam. Love days like this!

Barry M’s Papaya and really late St. Patrick’s Day manicure :)

Barry M polish is growing on me. I’m not hugely impressed with how thick it can be, or how streaky. I think it’s definitely better that some Sally Hansen polishes. This polish is Papaya, it’s a really creamy coral shade. It took two coats and even after drying it was very easily dented. I really like the softness of the colour, but wish application was easier.

I spent St. Patrick’s Day at home sick in bed. But I was determined to try a themed manicure! When I felt better I broke out these nail jewels, aren’t they cute?! I bought them with St. Patrick’s Day in mind. Really glad I got to use them.

The clovers are so shiny it’s hard to get a good close up focused picture.
