Speed Dial & Bling!

DSC_0258

For this look I used Ciate’s Speed Dial and some nail stickers I picked up before I left Korea.

DSC_0262

I like the look, but the stickers tend to peel off at the edges after a while. I would only use these for nights out anyway, they wouldn’t last a whole day.

For the top coat I used my new (and first) bottle of Seche Vite. I love it so much, BEST TOP COAT EVER. I always wondered what people were raving about and now I know! I actually found it at Bed Bath and Beyond in DC. Score!

Day 8 Pre-Spring Challenge Contest Jewelery

1

I don’t know if it’s because I live in Korea or what but it’s so easy to find nail bling here! These cost less than a dollar and are in all the beauty stores. So, I gotta admit this manicure took about 10 mins to do! Yay for the easy ones! I got the stickers from Etude House. It’s a great chain of beauty stores they sell everything from make-up to nail art products all for really cheap.

The one bad thing about these jewel stickers was that they curled up at the ends. It was like they didn’t want to bend! I couldn’t get them to lay flat so I took them off after I photographed this mani. Anyone know how to get around that?

The base polish is Eclipse 103. 2 3 4

OPI James Bond Skyfall Collection

DSC_2531

From left to right they are: Casino Royale, You Only Live Twice, Live And Let Die, Moonraker, The Living Daylights, Die Another Day, The Man With The Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me, Skyfall, Golden Eye, Tomorrow Never Dies, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, The World Is Not Enough.

I may be one of the last people to review this collection but I don’t care! 🙂 As many of you know I spent Christmas in the States meeting my future in-laws. While there my              uh-mazing fiance gifted me TONS of nail polish for my birthday/Christmas! I couldn’t wait to get home and enjoy it all!

When I got home I impatiently swatched about a million polishes frantically trying to ‘capture’ them all. I kind of burnt out after a few days. Then I started to wonder why I was so eager to swatch them at all? I mean, when can you enjoy the polish if you’re just putting it on and off like a robot? It’s not that I don’t enjoy swatching and reviewing polishes it’s just when there are so MANY new polishes to enjoy why not just chill out and wear some of them for more than 30 mins? That’s just me! I enjoy seeing everyone’s swatches so plz don’t take any of this personally.

I’m posting about the Skyfall collection and originally I was gonna swatch each one bla bla bla but now I’ve decided to be disorganised and just have fun. So far, I’ve only worn two of the polishes, excluding the 18 carat gold topcoat.,  which I LOVE

Die Another DayDSC_2536

I wore this Thursday to work. I love the peppy shade it’s a tangy orange-y shade which is still reddish enough not to be garish. It was the perfect shade to build up to Friday! It applied really smoothly and needed only two coats. I gotta say OPI’s still my favourite brand for quality and ease of application.

Die Another Day with The Man With The Golden Gun over it. DSC_2542

I HAD to try out The Man With The Golden Gun! I was so excited! I think it turned out well and I do really love it but next time I think I’ll use more. It’s kind of hard to know what’s on the brush as you can’t see into the bottle. Also, sometimes not a lot comes out and you have to get rid of the clear polish to get to the golden parts. It’s a great polish, it just needs a little care when applying.

More posts on this collection coming your way in the future! Have a great weekend everyone! 🙂

Gold Glitter Gradient

1

Yay for EASY nail art!Because let’s face it there are some evenings when I don’t want a manicure to take over an hour 🙂 I already posted about this great gradient kit from Etude house, that post covered the silver kit. Since Christmas seems to be the season for glitter polishes I thought a glitter gradient would give a simple manicure a nice twist and still be really fast to do. (are you getting I’m really pressed for time these days?! lol!)

What do you do when you want a pretty manicure but don’t have the time? Lemme know! I want your ideas haha!!

Snowflake Manicure

1

This is a subtle Christmas manicure. The snowflakes look great when the light hits them.

I used Konad stamping plate m59 and silver and gold Konad stamping polish. The green is Sally Hansen Xtreme wear and the red is OPI’s Color So Hot It Berns.  I really love how the snowflakes turned out. My nails remind me of wrapping paper! 🙂

I’m sure i’ll be seeing lots of Christmas themed manicures this month 🙂 Can’t wait!!! I know I will be trying a few myself. 23

Modi Glam Nails Swatches and Reviews

This is my second about this range of glitter polishes. The Modi range was so fun I had to go buy more and show you! My previous post covered a red, black and white,  multicoloured glitter. You can read it here.

This time I bought a creamy glitter with multicoloured pieces. This polish has square, circle, and hexagon shaped glitter throughout. The thing I love about these polishes is that they don’t hold back on the glitter. I don’t normally like creamy polishes but I did enjoy wearing this one. It’s cheerful and peppy.  This was two coats. I think you can see little bubbles underneath the polish because I used a peel off base coat. It was worth that not to deal with removing the polish the standard way!

I paired this glitter with OPI’s Fly from the Nicki Minaj range. I think they compliment each other quite well. As with all glitter polishes from this range they are so packed with glitter you have to be careful that too much doesn’t come out.

Blue Flowers

This is a quick and simple stamping manicure. I previously made a tutorial on stamping. You can check it out here

I used Konad plate m56 and dark blue Konad stamping polish. The base coat is a brand called Eclipse. It’s made in Korea. It cost 1,000 Korean Won. That’s around 90 cents US. I fully expected it to be bad quality. It wasn’t. I love finding bargains like that! I literally fished it out of a huge bin of nail polishes all for that price. 🙂

This manicure isn’t the best. I am still new to stamping. But I plan to do a lot more and get better. 🙂 So bear with me 🙂

Modi Peel Off Base Coat

I was shopping in Aritaum last week for some more of those great Modi glitters, when I saw this product. Modi have a peel off base coat. My mind instantly ran through the implications! My first thought was that it’d be really helpful in removing glitter polishes. They always take time to get off and I worry  the glitter pieces will scrape my nails. My second thought was, will this really work? Or is it a gimmick?

It wasn’t expensive 3,500 Korean Won. That’s around $3 USD. I’ve been seeing lots of posts recently about nail bloggers using hardware glue as a base coat to get glitter polishes to peel off. This polish seems to be Korea’s answer to that problem.

So, I tried it out. I spread it on my nails as my base coat. The first thing I noticed was that it was really think and gooey. There was no strong polish smell, no smell at all actually. It took a long time to dry, about 7 or 8 minutes. Once it was dry I applied OPI’S Fly from the Nicki Minaj range over it. Usually this polish is opaque in two coats but when I applied it over this base coat bald patches  appeared a few seconds later. It was almost like the polish was rolling off the base coat in places. But it was no big deal I just used an extra coat of polish and it was fine. I applied Modi’s gold glitter polish on top of all that, and a topcoat to make it look smooth and shiny.

I left the manicure on for a day (a whole day! ha! that’s about how long a manicure lasts me) and then came crunch time. I tried peeling it all off. Success!  Using just my nails I was able to easily peel off all the polish and base coat. Some of the polish even came off in one intact piece! (and yeah that did give me a thrill!) 🙂

I did notice that my nails were slightly stained blue from the OPI polish. That never happens with my OPI base coat. I think next time I will just apply the OPI base coat under the peel off one. Also, I think I will only use Modi’s base coat for glitter polishes. Overall, I was really impressed with this base coat. 🙂

Modi Glam Nails Swatches and Reviews 1

Last week while shopping in Gangnam, Seoul I came across these beautiful glittery polishes in a store called Aritaum. These are Aritaum’s Modi Glam Nails. They were so eye-catching I had to buy them. I’m just sorry I only bought three! They were 3,500 Korean Won each. That’s roughly $3 USD. Bargain! 🙂

The thing that surprised me the most about these polishes is that one coat was enough! They are JAM PACKED with glitter and bits and pieces. If you scroll down and check out my macro shots of each bottle you can clearly see this. So each manicure was simple and took the minimum amount of time! That’s a win for me.

The pink base coat is OPI’s Strawberry Margarita.

Look at all that inside!!

I think this manicure would be really great for a Christmas party. Some of the pieces of  glitter were quite large. The red base coat is OPI’s Color So Hot It Berns.

Mmm full of glittery goodness.

Here’s my last swatch. This glitter would go with any colour but I love how it looks with light and dark purple. That dark purple is OPI’s Louvre Me Louvre Me Not.

Can you see how jam-packed each one is with glitter? I may just have to go back and get some more this weekend!
