Ombre Polka Dots

PicMonkey Collage

I’ve been feeling sick for the past few days so I haven’t really been blogging, sorry about that. Hopefully I’ll get more posts up next week. This is my attempt at ombre polka dots. I used Essie blanc, and a brand called Eclipse which I paid about 60c for.I really like the effect, I saw a youtube tutorial on how to create this look and I just had to try it for myself.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! 🙂

Day 12 Pre-Spring Challenge Contest Stripes

1

I’ve got a big smile on my face writing this post. This day six months will be my wedding day. Big changes and moves are coming soon and I’m excited!

Another reason I’m smiling is because I learned another technique through this challenge. I learned how to use my fan brush to create these funky stripes. I watched a video on YouTube and tried it out! So, in two weeks I finally nailed sponging/gradient nails AND can now use my brushes more effectively! I can’t wait to do this manicure again with different colors! I really love this effect!

Happy Friday everyone! 🙂 2 3 For this mani the base coat was Essie Blanc, then the stripes are OPI Strawberry Margarita and OPI Fly.

Water Marble Manicure

This was first time trying to create a water marble manicure and it took quite a few tries. Basically only my OPI polishes would work. Every other brand I have didn’t spread well in the water. Some cheaper brands I own completely dissolved. So once I figured that out I was one step closer. I watched a great tutorial on youtube it was really helpful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IF4et6-rw5s

A big mistake I kept making was when I put my finger in the water then pulled it out the polish around my nail in the water would end up over my nail ruining the manicure. I started to remove the excess polish around my finger with a toothpick and that fixed that problem.

I’m really glad I didn’t give up and I learned a new technique today. Overall, I do like the effect but I will only use water marbling on an accent nail as I feel it’s too busy to put on all my nails. Also that would be a huge waste of nail polish.
