Wedding Hair First Salon Visit

DSCN3797

Today was my first salon appointment. I went in last week and spoke to the head colourist and explained what I wanted for my wedding. She was great! Today I got low and high lights, a hair cut and hair styling. I really love how it turned out.

I was originally going to pull pieces back from my face but I think that would take away from the effect. I might put a decorative pin on the left side above my ear, I’m not sure yet. I have two or three more visits between now and the wedding so I can play around with it some more. I’m really happy with the colour though!

After my hair appointment I wandered around the farmer’s market in my city, bought delicious chocolate for me, Greg, and my chocolate addicted brother. Then, had a great pub lunch with my mam. Love days like this!

Barry M’s Papaya and really late St. Patrick’s Day manicure :)

DSC_0164

Barry M polish is growing on me. I’m not hugely impressed with how thick it can be, or how streaky. I think it’s definitely better that some Sally Hansen polishes. This polish is Papaya, it’s a really creamy coral shade. It took two coats and even after drying it was very easily dented. I really like the softness of the colour, but wish application was easier.

I spent St. Patrick’s Day at home sick in bed. But I was determined to try a themed manicure! When I felt better I broke out these nail jewels, aren’t they cute?! I bought them with St. Patrick’s Day in mind. Really glad I got to use them.

The clovers are so shiny it’s hard to get a good close up focused picture.

Milani Shady Gray and Tainted In Red

DSC_0153

These are my Milani polishes combined to make a gritty look! The red/orange colour is called 901 Tainted In Red and the Grey is called 906 Shady Gray. I like this look but this is not my favourite colour combo! My polish collection is really limited these days. I have a big box full of polishes on it’s way here from Korea, can’t wait! Until then I’m just working with what I have. It’s ok but it makes nail art a little more difficult!

DSC_0157

In other exciting news, I’m flying to D.C. on Monday to see Greg for two weeks!!!! (and Mika and Pickle!) Can’t wait!!! It’s only been a month apart but it’s so great to be going over! I’m gonna cuddle my pets so hard!! 🙂 (and Greg!) 🙂

What do you think of the colour combo?

Milani Nail Lacquer

First off, sorry for not blogging in a while. I was really sick with the flu last weekend and as soon as I got better I had to go straight back to work. But I’m back now and feeling healthy and I can’t wait to share more nail art with you! 🙂

DSC_0152

I’ve been really  wanting to try these Milani polishes for ages but I couldn’t find them in Ireland. Luckily, my favorite Texan girl sent me some in a polish swap! Thanks Julie from Short and Sweet in Texas. I tried this one out first. It so cool! I thought it would kind of have a leathery feel to it since that’s what it looks like in pictures but actually it’s just really really gritty! I will use my Modi Peel Off Base Coat under it in future!

DSC_0141

It’s really easy to apply. Dries super fast and doesn’t feel annoyingly gritty, it’s fine not too coarse  I love how it looks!

Have you tried these polishes? Did you like them?

Barry M’s Greenberry

DSC_0118

This is Barry M’s Greenberry. I bought it because I love these kinds of colors, they remind me summer is coming and they are bright and cheerful. This was no exception. I thought it might have been a bit dark when I applied it but I shouldn’t have worried! The color POPS off my nails, fabulous! (if I do say so myself) The polish was a bit streaky and I ran into the usual problem with streaky polishes, I put on too many thick layers and then it dents before it dries, anyone else do that?

DSC_0117

Since I knew I was gonna swatch them I HAD to do something with this polish! So I used OPI’s The Man With The Golden Gun. I think this is my most expensive polish!! And I’ve only used it twice, my mam loves it, she’s amazed that it has 18 carat gold in it. Hmm, maybe she likes it a little TOO much, better keep it away from her! Anyway, I think it looks pretty smart with that top coat.

Finished day two of my job at the hospital! Tomorrow I only have a short day, it’s been great so far, staff are so lovely and the patients are fun and in good spirits! It’s really hard physical work but it’s rewarding and the time flies and I feel really useful which is great!! No hanging around the house for me!! I do miss not wearing nail polish though! It’s prob a good break for my nails.

I really love that people like this manicure because it was one of the first that I did. It’s special to me. 🙂 I remember how happy I was when I managed to get it right! Here’s the original post from way back when.

Tomorrow I start a part-time job. It means I may not be able to blog as frequently. But I will REALLY try my best! Wish me luck! (first day nerves!)

OPI Barefoot in Barcelona

Hey! Short post today, lots going on here. 🙂 This is Barefoot in Barcelona and I just made it a little more interesting with some black lace from Etude House.

DSC_0094

Today my Glossy Box arrived, so did my swap with Julie from Short and Sweet in Texas! So I’ll have lots to blog about in the next few days! 🙂

DSC_0084

I remember buying this colour because I wanted to broaden my colour spectrum. It wasn’t because I loved the shade or anything. But, now I see it and have worn it I really love this color and look. It’s subtle, and smooth, and warm, and I love it!

Gelly Hi- Shine Nail Paint by Barry M Pomegranate

DSC_0111

Last Monday I landed in Heathrow, was a little sad, not gonna lie! But one of the things that cheered me up was seeing a Barry M polish collection in Boots!! I bought three little beauties. AND they also have Barry M polishes in my local Boots!!! Expect to see more on this blog soon!! So far this is my fav. I have it on my toes as well! It applies really well the only problem was that one of the bristles  was longer than the rest so I had to cut that first. Apart from that, and the unimaginative name, no complaints with this polish!

DSC_0097

The colour of this polish is hard to describe. All pics were taken with the same setting on my camera, just in slightly different light. Sometimes, it’s a cherry pink type color, other times it looks almost red? I don’t know!

DSC_0103

Of course I had to mess with it! It looked great, but I wanted to see what my black and white Modi topcoat would look like over it. I really like the effect.

3. I am terrified of spiders.

4. I consider chocolate its own food group.

5. Sometimes I worry that people won’t like me.

6. Buying socks makes me happy.

7. I used to smoke, I quit almost two years ago. 🙂

Flowers Everywhere!!!

I don’t know how many of you have planned a wedding but let me tell you today was stressful! I got through it and came home and all I wanted to do was create a not so subtle in your face kind of a manicure! It really relaxed me! I have my music on, was happily painting my nails and covering them in flowers! 🙂

1

Aren’t these 3d flowers cute? They’re not even really super big! These are all Easter colors. I love the softness of this look.

2

Before I left Korea I shopped like a mad woman online in a Korean store called Gmarket. They have a whole nail art section it’s amazing! These are a couple of the gems I picked up! So many flowery options!

4

Sparkly gems for my nails! I also bought a few empty ones and I put my stud earrings in there. My mam also saw that and now she has one too! 🙂

5

Aaaaaannnd now I don’t feel so stressed anymore.

Ireland and Korean Royalty

I arrived home Monday night from Seoul via Heathrow. Despite being exhausted I still stayed up for hours chatting to my parents. They are the BEST help a future bride could ask for!

Mom has been cooking all my fav dishes including Irish breakfast and her yum Chicken casserole (secret recipe)

Now that I’m home I have a little setting up to do. I’m gonna head to the shopping centre tomorrow with mom and pick up some things I need, essentials such as a GHD, desk for my room, boots (they are on sale!) and some other things to make my room more me.

Of course the downside of being home is that I’m apart from Greg, Mika and Pickle. I’m trying really hard to focus on my goals and not wallow about too much about being apart from my little family. It’s temporary, and I should use the time on things that will improve me so when I do see Greg again I can impress him! 🙂

One more downside, it’s 5.30am I’ve been awake for an hour now! So naturally I’m typing this with a facemask on and I may go paint my toenails in a little bit!

Sunday was my last day in Seoul. Greg and I decided to go to a photo studio and dress up as Korean Kings and Queens and wear Hanbok. That’s the traditional Korean  clothing. Isn’t it beautiful? Of course I asked for purple!

I’m trying to think like a queen!

006

Doesn’t he look handsome?

Together, having fun.  🙂 It’s easy with your best friend.

Ciate: Fit For A Queen & Hologram

2

How pretty is this?! It’s bright, sparkly, and really classy at the same time (I think). I love how perky it is.

3

Fit For A Queen required multiple coats. It was really easy to miss bald patches otherwise. I think I used about four or five light layers and a little cover up as well. Worth it though, and it dries really fast.

4

I think that Hologram really adds oomph to this look. However, I was really disappointed at how badly the caviar stayed on my nails. I’ve bought nail caviar online before and it has stayed on for days. Almost immediately after application these beads started falling out. I’m hoping it was just the topcoat that I used.
