This is my one and only Julep polish. Thanks to Julie from Short and Sweet in Texas for sending it to me in a swap. It’s called Minnie, and my mom’s worn it a lot more than I have! I greatly dislike how difficult it is to apply. It’s even harder to apply it on someone else’s nails. BUT, I do LOVE the colour. I mean, look at it, it’s amazing!

My nails remind me of a cute sweater!

These little beads are so much fun, I love the effect. I did of course manage to spill some all over my desk so I’m sure I’ll be finding them in the days to come!

A couple of times I accidentally used a silver bead instead of a gold one, can you spot where?

My Easter Manicure

2

These are my Easter nails. They go with my Easter chocolate! I like the cheerful yellow. I already blogged about this style of ombre nail art in light blue here, but I just love this design so much I wanted to do it again! (that doesn’t happen me very often!) I used Sally Hansen, Lightening and Essie, Blanc and a dotting tool too.

Tonight Greg and I and a few friends are having a going away party in our local. It’s happy/sad!! I’ll miss everyone I’ve gotten to know over the last four years but I’m really keen to get on with my life and get the wedding organised, go home to Ireland etc.!

I’m not going to think about it too much tonight I’m just going to have a good time with friends and wine! (and shots!)

These are the perfect nails for my evening, cheerful and bright!

Have a good weekend everyone! 🙂

Which topcoat is best?

2

I was shopping yesterday and while in Aritaum I saw this beautiful nail polish. I’m no stranger to Modi polishes. I’ve blogged/reviewed them before here and here and here. But I’ve never owned this shade before and I fell in love! It’s not as dark as I thought it would be but it looks great on. I was really excited to try it out. It took three light coats to get it perfect. Sometimes the polish kind of separates on the nail. It’s like it’s reacting to the base coat or something. But it’s really easily fixed, just like streaky polish.

When I had it on I couldn’t decide how to glam it up a little. So I picked my four fav options. Modi Matt TopCoat, Modi Golden Glitter, Modi Black and White TopCoat and Revlon regular TopCoat.

I have a favorite but I really want to know which one YOU (my beloved reader)  think is best! Plz let me know. 🙂

Henna Style Stamping

1

How much do I love stamping manicures? A lot! For this manicure I wanted the stamping polish to really pop. I think Barefoot in Barcelona matched up really well with my red Konad stamping polish. It reminds me of henna art. I used Bundle Monster stamping plate BM 306.

It’s a little strange not having to do a specific manicure every day now that the pre-spring challenge contest is over! Congratulations to the winners Short and Sweet in Texas and Up Close and Polished. Both girls created beautiful manicures throughout the contest. 🙂

I Know You Know Collection From The Lady Varnishes: Part One

I was very happy when the post came today. I received a package from the lovely Elissa and Kirsten of The Lady Varnishes. It contained six beautifully packaged sample sized bottles from their I Know You Know Collection, and a preview of their Because You Listen Collection, plus a bonus bottle of polish that comes when you order the whole collection.

These polishes, from left to right, are called: I Know You Know, To The Blueberry, You Know That’s Right, You Heard About Pluto?, Dazzle And Stretch, and Girl Needs A Doughnut.

I have to say my first impression of this range of polish is very positive. I love how each bottle has a little charm on it, and the charm has a colored jewel which matches the shade of nail polish. It’s detail and personal touches like that which really make me feel that this collection is special. These bottles would make great little gifts for nail polish lovers and girly girls. All the polishes are 3-Free and cruelty free.

The Lady Varnishes is owned by two sisters Elissa and Kirsten. They are very approachable and friendly. I am always impressed when people find a way to do what they love and these two definitely have a huge passion for polish. 🙂 They’ve gone from experimenting with polish in their spare time to opening an Etsy store and starting collections!

I Know You Know

This polish took two coats and a little extra dabbing to cover less glittery areas. It’s a matte green glittery polish, with very fine green glitter, and larger white shreds. To apply, the polish is quite thick. This was great because it was easier to deal with than really watery streaky polish. I found it quite easy to evenly apply. There is a very healthy amount of glitter in each brush stroke. A bonus with all these polishes is the drying time, it’s super fast! This polish, although loaded with glittery goodness, wasn’t too coarse when it dried. I liked it because it reminded me of spring and freshly cut grass. 9 10

To The Blueberry

5

Ok, to be honest I was a little nervous when applying this polish. I’ve had bad luck with blue nail polish staining my nails. Thankfully, this polish did not do that. It came off really easily with no staining. The best thing about this polish is the colour, it really pops! I don’t think it’s possible to capture how eye-catching it is in real life but I hope my camera came close. This polish required three coats to cover bald patches. The polish is a shimmery blue with black and super fine silver glitter. It just sparkles across the nail. Yum.

You Know That’s Right

I don’t usually go for lighter nail polishes, I seem to gravitate more to bolder colours. That may be about to change. Purple is my favourite colour anyway so this wasn’t really a hard sell! This is a very ladylike shimmery violet with purple, silver, and green glitter mixed in, that’s a great combo! This is a very cute polish that I think will appeal to most people.

In-law Nails!

1 2

Hey everyone, In the morning I’m flying to the states to meet my in-laws for the first time! I’ll be spending Christmas in Florida! I’m so excited! I really want to make  a good impression so I took a lot of care with my nails, I hope you like the results, I hope my future mother in law likes them too! Wish me luck guys! The stamping plate is Bundle Monster BW-319. I used Konad white stamping polish and Sally Hanson’s Xtreme Wear Blue It. 3 PicMonkey Collage

I was very excited when my bundle monster package arrived last week. But, because work has been so cray all week I didn’t have much time to fool around with the plates. I’ll have more time in January so watch out for some stamping manicures then! And hopefully I’ll have picked up some nice nail art supplies in the states! 🙂

Zebra Nails

1

I bought these Zebra nail stickers a little while ago. I had really high hopes for them because the design is very striking and eye-catching. They were around 7 dollars US. I was happy to see that there were 28 nail wraps in the box. Also, they say if you want to use the stickers for a pedicure just apply the square end to the nail not the curved end, which is for fingers.

I knew I had a busy few days ahead of me so I was delighted to know I could just put on these stickers and go. But when I put them on, even though I was really careful, there were little wrinkles on the end of each nail. I tried so hard to apply them perfectly and it still happened. I thought the little wrinkles would be O.K.  but they started to bug me almost immediately. The next day I couldn’t wait to take them off. I started thinking about how unhygienic is was and worried that germs/dirt would get caught under the sticker. Ugh! I’m not the only one who has had this experience with nail stickers. My friend also complained about the wrinkles at the end of each nail.

It’s a pity because they really do look beautiful, until you look closely!

Penguins!

Because who doesn’t love penguins?!I got inspiration for this manicure  here. Sometimes I really like to see if I can recreate the manicures I see online. I think that’s ok, as long as I always give credit for the image and don’t try to pass the original idea off as my own, what do you guys think about that?

Santa Claus Nails :)

1

I love Christmas!! 🙂 My nails are making me smile today. My birthday is Christmas day so it’s always been a really special day for me.

I googled Christmas nail art and a version of this manicure caught my eye. I swapped silver glittery polish for silver nail tape. You can check out that manicure here.

Purple Stamping Manicure

1

Hey everybody! Hope you are all enjoying the weekend! Today’s post is just a simple stamping manicure I did a while ago. I bought a range of Konad stamping polishes and wanted to test out the purple one. I was disappointed with the Sally Hansen polish Nude Now. I felt it made my nails look weirdly stained and it wasn’t opaque at all. I would have preferred a creamier polish.  The stamping plate used was Konad M2.

Chevron Nails

This is my first Chevron manicure and I am really happy with how it turned out. The red is OPI’s Color So Hot It Berns and the gold is from the Face Shop it has no name.

I wore this manicure to a Thanksgiving party that my friends threw. Thanksgiving is a relatively new holiday to me, but I love it. Friends, good food,  playing 20 questions, what’s not to love?! 🙂  PLUS I got lots of compliments on how festive this mani looked. (always makes me feel good when my nail art gets complimented!!!)

I will definitely be trying another version of this look soon!

Snowflake Manicure

1

This is a subtle Christmas manicure. The snowflakes look great when the light hits them.

I used Konad stamping plate m59 and silver and gold Konad stamping polish. The green is Sally Hansen Xtreme wear and the red is OPI’s Color So Hot It Berns.  I really love how the snowflakes turned out. My nails remind me of wrapping paper! 🙂

I’m sure i’ll be seeing lots of Christmas themed manicures this month 🙂 Can’t wait!!! I know I will be trying a few myself. 23

Modi Glam Nails Swatches and Reviews

This is my second about this range of glitter polishes. The Modi range was so fun I had to go buy more and show you! My previous post covered a red, black and white,  multicoloured glitter. You can read it here.

This time I bought a creamy glitter with multicoloured pieces. This polish has square, circle, and hexagon shaped glitter throughout. The thing I love about these polishes is that they don’t hold back on the glitter. I don’t normally like creamy polishes but I did enjoy wearing this one. It’s cheerful and peppy.  This was two coats. I think you can see little bubbles underneath the polish because I used a peel off base coat. It was worth that not to deal with removing the polish the standard way!

I paired this glitter with OPI’s Fly from the Nicki Minaj range. I think they compliment each other quite well. As with all glitter polishes from this range they are so packed with glitter you have to be careful that too much doesn’t come out.
