Nail Art For Funn’s Family Manicures!!

I thought I’d share some manicures I’ve done recently. Since I can’t wear polish to work it makes sense to do my mam’s nails and sometimes my aunt’s too!

I’ve actually been painting my mam’s nails since I came home in March. We started with simple colours, then I got her hooked on nail jewels and now stamping! Yay!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I used OPI’s Barefoot in Barcelona, and red Konad stamping polish with Bundle Monster’s plate 306.

This is a replica of a manicure I did last year. I showed mam the picture and she liked so I recreated it for her (with the nail jewels of course!)

She’s even learning how to ‘pose’!

This manicure was for my aunt. She wanted Autumn colours so we chose a silver Sephora polish by OPI, Social Climber ย and OPI’s Tomorrow Never Dies. Love, love, love, this colour, and this combo!

My Aunt was diggin’ her chevrons!

Also, posing quite nicely!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Last week we adventured in lace. Mam chose the colours and loved the result! She thought they looked delicate and ladylike. We used Estee Lauder’s Dilettante and Lilac Leather.

I’m thinking I’ll introduce her to textured polish next, and maybe stripes? What do you think? Let me know!!!

Halloween Stylin’

DSC_0557

Here’s my Halloween style manicure. I used thin nail art tape and OPI’s Tomorrow Never Dies along with Barry M’s Black Nail Paint.

DSC_0552

I really like how these colours compliment each other. The Black Nail Paint was a dream to paint over the purple and tape. It’s nice and thick without being gooey. Maybe that’s because it’s a new bottle. I’ve had really goopy black nail polish before, it was Sally Hansen brand.

DSC_0548

Tomorrow Never Dies is becoming one of my favourite polishes. It’s a really pretty shade of purple. I think it’s nice for nights out, but it could also be a good day time polish for this time of year. It requires at least 2 coats, because there will be bald patches.

Happy Halloween bloggers! xxx

Lace Inspiration From One of my Favourite Bloggers

Hey fellow bloggers,

It’s been a while since I posted an actual nail art post, so here’s one for you! I used Casino Royale OPI, and Black Nail Paint by Barry M. ๐Ÿ™‚

PicMonkey Collage

I had searched the internet for inspiration for a Halloween type mani, but wasn’t very inspired. Then I browsed back through one of my favourite blogs which is Trine Marie’s blogย and I found this post on lace nail art.

She used different colors, and in my opinion her manicure is much neater than mine, but it was fun trying this out!

I recommend her blog to everyone because she has great fashion ideas, nail art, and is in general, a really interesting person! ๐Ÿ™‚

Part of blogging is meeting new people and since I’ve been blogging I have to say I have three favourite bloggers. Here are their blog’s that I recommend you check out.

Trine Marie

Cowboys and Crossbones

Short and Sweet in Texasย

Cowboys and Crossbones will have you loling around the floor at her antics and her sweet cat Ted is amazing.

Short and Sweet is amazing for finding cute nail polishes and showing them at their best.

All three of these bloggers are so enjoyable to read I really think they are amazing women. Too often I don’t have the time to blog but these ladies are religious about their posts. It’s fun to see what they are up to, and they often have great ideas that I like to try myself.

So, this post is a big thank you to them, for making my blogging experience so enjoyable and rewarding!

My Wedding Album

Hey fellow bloggers,

I decided to share my wedding album with you. It’s only fair since I have been posting various things about my wedding for months now! Also, I know I love seeing other people’s pics, so I hope you enjoy mine. Here’s the link to the slideshow!ย

My photographer is a guy called Darren Kirwan. He is sha-mazing!!! He was like a ninja with the camera! Most of the time I really forgot he was there.

Some nail art posts are coming soon, October has been a busy month at work. They don’t allow nail polish either, so that sucks!

Let me know what you think of the album!

It’s Time Nailartforfunn Went NEON!!

PicMonkey Collage

I know neon nails has been done but not by me! I never really bothered with that look this summer. I think it’s because I was focused on the wedding and all things french manicure-y. Yes, I made up a word. I do that a lot.

Pic 1 topcoat is OPI’s The Living Daylights, Pic 2 OPI’s The Man With The Golden Gun, Pic 3 MODI.

Yesterday I went into Penney’s (Primark). For those of you who don’t know Penney’s it sells everything from clothes, to shoes, to accessories, and it’s REALLY cheap. I went in to buy furry cuddley socks. I came out with 20 euro worth of stuff! Including these nail polishes. There were actually 4 in the pack but the neon yellow one had turned into a putty, so I didn’t bother with that one.

1

All four only cost 2.50! Couldn’t pass that up! The bottles are only 6ml and they smell strong when applied. Each polish needed just 2 coats, except the green which needed 3 to cover bald spots.

5

I’ll be keeping my eyes open for more bargain polishes from now on!

3

Which one is your favourite? I think mine is the first one. That orange-y tang is quite cheerful!

Vampy Nails

DSC_0370

Here’s a real simple look I did the other evening. I used OPI’s Color So Hot It Berns and a black nail art jewel. I have so many cute little accessories that I need to start using! ๐Ÿ™‚ The jewel gives the manicure a little more edge I think. It’s also super quick and easy to do.

DSC_0368

Between the French Maid looking nails, and these, I feel I’m veering towards Halloween! The stores here are already selling Christmas candy, but no Halloween stuff yet. Which is sad, because Halloween came from Ireland. True story! It came from pagans.

What do you think? You like? Got any other color combo suggestions? ๐Ÿ™‚

Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls

DSC_0373

Here’s another waterfall manicure that I did a few weeks ago. I chose these colours to match a new dress.

I used;

Modi hardener, OPI’s Fly, Essie’s First Timer, Coverl Girl’s, Glosstinis (yellow), Sephora’s Social Climber, Sinful Colours’ Dream On, and Seche Vite topcoat.

DSC_0333

I love the dress ย because the skirt is really light and flows. The top is comfortable and dressy enough for evening wear. I got it in a store here called Pamela Scott’s.

Here’s a close up of the skirt.

French Maid Style

1

If my blog was a pet it would be starved for attention! Posting regularly is something I really need to work on. It doesn’t help that I’m not allowed to wear nail polish at work!

2

This black polish is Barry M. I picked it up while on honeymoon in London. Like all Barry M polishes it glides on smoothly and only needs two coats. I decided it was too plain by itself though and pulled out my bundle monster stamps. I used BM 316 to create the lacy effect.

3

If I was to dress up as a French maid for Halloween I would rock these nails with the outfit!

4

This was one of the last nice days we’ve had here. Right now it’s blustery and a little cold out! Boo!

Purple Waterfall Nails

1

For my wedding day I had a french manicure. I went to the spa and had Shellac nails done in the nail salon for the first time. They lasted really well, more than two weeks. The salon charges 10euro to remove the polish. While I was in there excitedly chattering about my wedding, the nail technician and I started to talk about nail art. I eventually told her about my blog, and she even asked me to write down the name so she could check it out! Such a compliment! She also told me if I bought a bottle of acetone I could take off the Shellac myself. I’ve never used acetone before. I’ve always just used nail polish remover. I found a bottle for 2.99 and took off the Shellac yesterday! It was a great tip, because then I used it to clean all my brushes, and tidy up the lines around the cuticle for this manicure! It also saved me money and an unnecessary trip to the nail salon. To remove the Shellac I just soaked small pieces of make up remover pads in the acetone, put it over the Shellac, and covered it in tinfoil. I left it on for less than ten mins and then it just literally fell off my nails.

4

Once my nails were Shellac free I wasn’t sure what to do with them. It’s been a while since I dabbled in nail art. So, I went back to the start. The place where I first fell in love with easy nail art. Nailasaurus of course! I browsed around a little bit and fell in love with Sammy’s waterfall nails! She’s done them in a selection of colours and helpfully, she made a tutorial which makes it super easy to do. I sat down, feeling inspired and excited about painting my nails. It took one or two false starts, sometimes the bristles on my brushes would go wild. I found a little lip balm kept them together as I worked.

32

For this look I used MODI nail hardener, Estee Lauder Lilac Leather, OPI Casino Royale, Sephora Dream On, Sephora Dark Purple, Sephora Social Climber and Seche Vite top coat. Hope you like these and try them out for yourselves! xxxx PS. It feels great to be painting my nails again!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Wedding Pictures!

Walking down the aisle July 30th 2013

Here are some pictures of my wedding day. There will be more in a few weeks when I get the whole album from my photographer. This is just a small selection. We got married on July 30th in Adare Co. Limerick. It’s a beautiful little village and it was the perfect place for us to tie the knot! The first picture is us walking down the aisle. I was so nervous throughout the ceremony, but in this pic I’m starting to relax and enjoy myself!

The photographer took us to some train tracks to get some cool shots.

SMOOCH!!

My very talented friend made my bouquet out of brooches and buttons, she also made the buttonholes for the guys.

We had an amazing sunny day for our wedding, that’s pretty lucky in Ireland where it always rains! ๐Ÿ™‚

This was our first dance, Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars,

I’m getting MARRIED tomorrow! :)

DSCN4173

Aaaaand that explains my absence these past few weeks!

So, tomorrow I will be a Mrs. not a Ms.! ๐Ÿ™‚

Greg arrived here a week ago and we’ve had a lot of fun catching up and meeting friends here in Limerick. In the past couple of days his family has arrived and most of our friends have flown in too. It’s amazing to see the people we knew in Korea, here in Ireland. It’s a wedding, but it’s also a reunion, and a celebration!

So, this evening I’m feeling a little bit of everything, mostly excited, a little nervous, easily stressed lol!

After the wedding I’ll post more pics of the day and the honeymoon!

Wish me luck blogger buddies! ๐Ÿ™‚ xxx

Momicure! Because sharing is caring! :)

Mom2 Mom1

When someone cooks, cleans, and does laundry for you it’s only fair to pay them back with a manicure every once in a while. Mom’s fav is a french manicure. For this look I used OPI Base Coat, Essie’s Sugar Daddy, Essie’s Blanc and Seche Vite top coat. I was quite happy with how it turned out (mom was too). ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s weird painting someone else’s nails! It took me a while to get confident at it. It’s definitely not the same as doing your own. It’s good practice though! ๐Ÿ™‚

Spoiled – I Gotta Confection To Make

1

This is one of the polishes Greg sent me in a care package recently. It’s made by Wet n Wild.

Here’s the collection.

And if you don’t feel like clicking on a link here’s a pic! I like Uh, As If!

Spoiled Collection

The polish is loaded with very fine ย glitter and has hints of green, blue, and gold. It dries super fast. I’m always curious when I get these types of polishes. I want to know how many coats it takes to make it opaque. That first picture is one coat.

2

This is two coats. (above and below)

2 1

You can still clearly see my nail under two coats. Ok, here’s 3!

3

and

3 1

I stopped after three coats! Really, the extra coats didn’t make much of a diff to the depth of color. But it did nicely build up the glitter!

Now I’m wishing I had put on Modi Peel Off Base Coat under it!

ORLY I LOVE NAILS

PicMonkey Collage

I love ORLY!! These are my first ORLY polishes. I won them in a nail art competition that happened back in March. I came second with my cherry blossom manicure. The competition was hosted by Mommy Loves Nail Polish so thank you so much Louise for sending me this terrific little set of polishes.

So cute!

DSC_0017

Here are pics of each them in front of the clothes I think they would look good with. I like to match polishes to outfits!

I think this natural colour looks great with this teal sweater.

DSC_0004

This is a loose poncho type top that I love to wear. I think the red polish compliments it well.

DSC_0008

Hot pink and sailor style top!

DSC_0011

Dark purple sweater and this shimmery nude colour just work well together I think.

DSC_0014

All the polishes apply really easily. They are not too sticky or streaky. I used three coats for each polish. I think I like the more natural shades than the bright ones. My tastes in nail polish colours are definitely changing!

Care Package from the States

care box from greg

Those of you who read my posts know that I bought some Glossy Boxes recently and they were a real let down. So, I asked Greg (my fiance) to send me a care package. And this is what I got. Of course there is some nail polish in there! I love the Yellow cover girl polish, I already posted about it.

Greg’s gotten into brewing his own beer and he managed to send me a bottle! My parents and I tasted it and it was great! Really refreshing, light and it had ย honey notes to it.

The Old Bay seasoning was a total surprise, we used to season our eggs with it when we lived in Seoul. At first I didn’t like it, then I grew to love it. Gotta introduce my family to it.

The coffee cup was something that I asked for because the coffee at work is terrible and I wanted to bring my own in. So that was really great to get. I also asked for a key ring. In Seoul I had no keys, no car, we had a keypad to get into our apartment, so I really needed a cute key ring. It opens up and you can put a little picture inside!

The title of the book Greg sent me is ‘I could Pee on This’. How could I not enjoy that!!! It’s a really great book of cat poems written from cat’s perspectives. I laugh my ass off every time I read one of those poems! I recommend it to all cat people. ๐Ÿ™‚

I also got two pics. One of Mika and one of Pickle. I immediately went out and framed them. I miss my two widdle fur balls so much!!!

This package really brightened up my day, and I am enjoying using everything that came in it.
